Preparing for the upcoming RV Season

Posted by Stephanie Junek on

Like many, you planned for your trip, checked out the local restaurants, and visited the attraction websites. All to prepare for a great vacation. Travel is not recommended currently by the CDC and WHO because of the Coronavirus COVID-19.

One thing you can do during the time we are social distancing is to prepare your RV for when we can get back to normal life. Once you pick up your RV from storage it should be cleaned. Start by washing the exterior and opening all the windows to air it out. Since the windows are open, check them for any signs of damage. Once the inspection of your windows is complete move on to any small areas, compartments, drawers, cabinets, and storage to make sure no little friends moved in during the winter.

Clean the inside by wiping things down, dust, vacuum, and get rid of any debris or bugs that may have found their way in during storage. Did you winterize your RV or did you have that service done for you? Either way, it needs to be reversed. It is advised that you de-winterize a couple of weeks before your first trip, giving you time to make any updates, repairs, or changes necessary before your trip.

If you need tips on winterizing or de-winterizing your RV, check with your local dealer for suggestions or service. You should inspect every part of your RV before use, making sure you are safe during travel. It is best to create a checklist and follow through this list every season, so you don’t forget anything when preparing. Some of the things we want you to remember to check are your tires, battery, propane, fluids, awnings, slides, and water system. If you don’t know what to add to your checklist do some research and find yourself a detailed checklist.

Make sure you have an emergency kit in your RV along with an updated fire extinguisher. Keep your kit stored in an easily accessible location. Don’t forget extra batteries for your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Lastly, don’t forget your AC WORKS® power adapters. We have many options available. Whether you are powering your RV using park power, generator power, or household power, we have a solution
