Why Generators Have Locking Outlets

Posted by Stephanie Junek on

Have you noticed that most high-power generator receptacles (outlets) are the locking style?  There are reasons for this type of outlet is commonly installed into generators.  Many items that need temporary power require locking style outlets.  This is not a coincidence.  This is largely due to safety.

When working with a generator as your power source you will find that it is easy for your plug to come loose and lose power.  Generators will shake and don’t always run smoothly meaning if you don’t have a locking plug your power could be interrupted.

If you are using your generator to power your tools and/or equipment that moves around on a job site, campground, or back yard it is common for you to unplug your power from its source while walking around.  Then you have to go back and forth to turn the power back on.

Safety and convenience are important when you need back up, emergency power, or when you are powering a job site.  Keeping these things in mind we would like to share with you some of the many locking adapters we have for generator use.
